VBS MEETING

Easter Egg Hunt!

∗ Thank you for everyone who attended and assisted in our annual fish fry last Friday night. All who came helped in raising money and enjoying a good meal. It was a great success! :)

∗ Our children's Easter Egg Hunt is tomorrow, Sunday, March 28 after 10 am mass. All children 10 and under may participate in the hunt, but all are welcome to come and enjoy refreshments provided.

∗ Following the egg hunt, bingo games will be played in the parish hall from 1-4 pm to support VBS this summer.

Abbey Youth Fest Pictures! I think everyone had a really great time, even if we all got a little sunburned. ;)

DYC was absolutely amazing this year! Our proof:

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES SATURDAY:
** We will meet at St. Margaret’s between 7:00 – 7:15 a.m. to leave by 7:30am. We will have doughnuts and milk provided.
** We estimate that we will return to St. Margaret’s between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m., although it could be as late as 10:00 p.m.

WHAT TO BRING, WEAR, AND THE LIKE:
** Rain gear and umbrellas OR hats, umbrellas and hand water sprayers for cooling--CHECK THE WEATHER FORECAST
** Clothing appropriate to the day's weather (YOUTH GROUP T-SHIRT)
** Backpacks
** Comfortable shoes
** Sunscreen, chap stick
** Picnic blankets or tarps for gound-sitting
** Water/Snacks/Ice Chest

MEALS AND SPENDING MONEY:
** The festival will include meal periods for lunch and dinner, during which participants will be able to purchase food from Festival vendors.
** NO CASH will be accepted at FOOD AND BEVERAGE BOOTHS. Meal tokens worth 50 cents will be on sale at the festival. Each St. Margaret participant will have $5.00 of pre-paid meal tokens available to them.
** Religious articles, books and Catholic/Christian music cd's will also be available for sale. THESE ITEMS WILL NEED TO BE PURCHASED WITH CASH. Tokens will not be available at these vendor tents.

WRISTBAND POLICY:
** Upon arrival at the Abbey Youth Festival, each participant will receive a wristband and Festival program with a schedule, song lyrics and other pertinent information. WRISTBANDS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES.

St. Margaret's Annual Fish Fry is around the corner, Friday, March 19th. All youth members, we need you to sell sell sell those tickets after masses! In addition, our prep for the Fish Fry ("Potato Peeling Party") is this Wednesday, March 17th.

DYC INFO!!!

This weekend, March 6th – 7th, is the annual Baton Rouge Diocesan Youth Conference (DYC) at the Catholic Life Center. This year's theme is "Fight the Blur: Focus on Christ." Following is information that you will need for the event.

• Saturday Morning Departure – We will meet at St. Margaret’s at 6:45 a.m. Saturday to load passengers and luggage in the vehicles and leave by 7:00am.
• Sunday Afternoon Arrival – We estimate that we should return to St. Margaret’s Sunday around 3:00 p.m.
• Food – Everyone should eat breakfast before meeting at St. Margaret’s Saturday morning. Participants should bring money for dinner on Saturday evening and lunch on the way home on Sunday.
• Extra Money – Besides money for two meals, participants may want to bring extra money for music CD’s and other items brought by the keynote and workshop speakers that are available for purchase.
• Dress Code – Jeans and t-shirts are fine for the whole weekend. We will wear our black and white youth group shirts on Saturday, and we will receive a DYC t-shirt while there.
• Overnight Accommodations – Girls will stay at St. Joseph Academy, and boys will stay at St. Aloysius. Participants will be sleeping on gym floors and should bring a sleeping bag or air mattress, a blanket and pillow.
• Toiletries – Participants need to bring their own toiletries. Showers are not available; however, lavatories for washing face and brushing teeth will be available.
• Cell Phones – If students bring a cell phone, you are asked to leave it in your luggage. If you attempt to use your phone during one of the seminars, it will be taken and kept by a chaperone for the rest of the weekend.

To maintain a fun-filled, encouraging atmosphere, we expect everyone to treat each other (chaperones included) courteously. Please read over the DYC Code of Conduct that was handed out, so everyone understands the expected behavior. Mrs. Tamara has extra copies if you need another copy.

∗ All Abbey Youth Fest forms and money are due Thursday, February 18. Hurry, get them in! If you need one, just grab this one!

BOWLING TRIP! The St. Margaret's Bowling Trip is this Sunday, the 21st!! Get ready for an awesome time! No money required, just you and your permission slip. Don't have one? Print one out here. :)
